Where do e-vignettes apply?
E-vignettes are valid in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Hungary. These countries have an electronic toll system for paying tolls. This means that vignettes are no longer available as stickers for the windshield. The toll is paid through the electronic toll system of the respective country. The toll is assigned to the vehicle's license plate number and cameras along the road check whether the car is allowed to use the route. If the system detects that the car does not have a vignette, it issues a fine that is sent to the vehicle owner.
How do I choose the right vignette for my vehicle?
Due to the different traffic regulations in each country, it is important to make sure that the vignette is suitable for your car. Before buying a vignette, it is advisable to read the information provided during the ordering process, paying particular attention to the vehicle category. Problems with incorrect toll charges are caused by the fact that in some countries the vehicle category up to 3.5 tons has been divided into additional subcategories. This is the case in three countries: Hungary, Slovenia and Romania.
