Road Tolls Poland | Driver’s Guide 2025
Heading to Poland? The road toll system there works a little differently than in the UK. There are no vignettes in Poland. There are, however, toll gates, videotolling and e-toll – all of this may seem quite complicated at the beginning. The most important thing is not to get lost on the A2. Fortunately, in this article we will explain everything to you. Fasten your seat belt – let’s get going! If you’re used to barrier-free payments such as Dart Charge or the Mersey Gateway in Britain, videotolling will feel familiar.
Road Tolls Poland | Map & Info
Most of the motorways and expressways in Poland are free of charge.
Unfortunately, not all of them are state-owned. Some of the arteries belong to private joint-stock companies and it is precisely on them that section tickets usually apply.
The only road tolls in Poland that you may encounter are local section tolls on concession sections.
Sections of toll motorways in Poland belong to special joint-stock companies such as:
- Autostrada Wielkopolska (AW SA)
- Gdańsk Transport Company (AmberOne)
- Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska (SAM SA)
The road tolls in Poland apply to both cars and motorcycles.
Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 3.5 tonnes, i.e. lorries, HGVs or coaches, use the national e-TOLL system (a distance-based electronic charging scheme for heavy vehicles).
It is also worth emphasising that Poland has been investing in and expanding its motorway network for years. There are now over 1,800 km of motorways open to traffic in Poland.
Their maintenance is mostly the responsibility of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA).
Below we present all paid sections of motorways in Poland:

Road Tolls Poland | There Are No Vignettes
Regardless of whether you are traveling in a light camper, a passenger car or a pickup – you will not buy a “Polish vignette” anywhere.
In Poland, there are neither windscreen stickers nor the well-known e-vignettes in PDF format.
The most convenient form of settling road tolls in Poland is the Autopay application.

Road Tolls Poland | A1 Motorway
The A1 motorway is a total of 152 km and divides Poland into two parts with a vertical line: eastern and western. Also called the Amber Motorway, it is partially tolled.
Tolls on the A1 apply on the section from Gdańsk to Toruń (north-central Poland).
The section from the border with the Czech Republic to Toruń is free.

How to pay for the A1? | AmberOne
You will settle the journey on the Rusocin – Nowa Wieś route at 12 toll gates. Below we present the toll collection points on the A1 motorway:
- PPO Rusocin (near Pruszcz Gdański),
- SPO Stanisławie (near Tczew),
- SPO Swarożyn (near Tczew),
- SPO Pelplin,
- SPO Kopytkowo,
- SPO Warlubie,
- SPO Nowe Marzy (near Grudziądz),
- SPO Grudziądz,
- SPO Lisewo (near Wąbrzeźno),
- SPO Turzno (near Toruń),
- SPO Lubicz (near Toruń),
- PPO Nowa Wieś (near Toruń).
On the A1 section (Rusocin – Nowa Wieś) you can make the road toll payment at the gate in the following form:
- cash (PLN, EUR, USD),
- payment card,
- fleet card,
- videotolling.
Videotolling means that you no longer have to stand in queues for a section ticket.
Road tolls on the A1 can be settled online using the AmberOne system.
The automatic payment system for the journey is based on reading registration numbers by cameras installed at the gates.
AmberOne works at all gates from Toruń to Gdańsk.
All you need is to register once in the system, and you can freely pass the gates without stopping – the payment will be made automatically online.
Simple, right?
Payment with the AmberOne system is as follows:
- Slowly drive up to any gate, keeping a distance from the vehicle in front.
- At the entry gates, cameras read the registration number, the system recognises it, automatically lights a green light and raises the barrier.
- At the exit gates, cameras read the registration number.
- The system recognises the registration number, automatically lights a green light and raises the barrier and collects the payment online.
- Done! Now you can continue your journey freely!
Good to know:
The system covers vehicles of all categories – with Polish and foreign registration numbers. If you are riding a motorcycle, you cannot use videotolling because the cameras are not able to read registration numbers placed at the rear of the motorcycle.
How much does it cost to drive on the A1?
Road tolls on this route depend on the length of the section covered and the type of vehicle you are driving.
If you are driving a vehicle with a GVW greater than 3.5 t, you will be covered by the Polish e-TOLL system (a distance-based scheme for heavy vehicles).
Good to know:
The rates for vehicles of all categories on the A1 motorway are the same as before the exemption from charges was introduced in 2023.
How much does it cost to drive the A1 in a camper?
Most campers do not weigh more than 3.5 t, and therefore belong to category 1.
Driving the entire tolled section of the A1 (from Rusocin to Nowa Wieś) in 2025 costs about 30 PLN (€6).
Exactly the same as in the case of passenger cars.
Road Tolls Poland | A2 Świecko – Biała Podlaska
The A2 motorway runs through Poland from west to east – from the border with Germany in Świecko, through Poznań, Łódź, Warsaw, to the Polish–Belarusian border and the border crossing in Kukuryki.
This route is over 600 km long, divides Poland across and is also called the “Wielkopolska Motorway”.
The A2 is part of the international E30 route, which connects Western Europe with the East.
Autostrada Wielkopolska has 2 tolled sections:
- Świecko – Konin (managed by AWSA),
- Konin – Stryków (managed by GDDKiA).
Currently, the following sections of the A2 motorway are toll-free:
- The Poznań bypass (between the Poznań Zachód and Poznań Wschód junctions).
- Stryków – Warsaw (km 370 – km 394).
- Warsaw – Siedlce (the A2 section east of Warsaw).
In short, on the map the left part of the A2 motorway is tolled (except for Poznań), and the right is toll-free.
A2 Motorway | Map 2025
Good to know:
By the end of 2025, the A2 motorway will be extended by 67 km. The opening of four new sections is planned between the Siedlce Południe and Biała Podlaska junctions.
How much does it cost to drive on the A2 motorway?
The amount of the road toll for the A2 motorway, as on the A1, depends on the section you are travelling and the category of vehicle.
As a rule, for driving the entire section of the A2 motorway (Świecko–Konin) by a passenger car, a road toll of 120 PLN (approx. €25) is charged.
In the case of the A2 section (Konin – Stryków) you will not pay anything. This section of the motorway is free.
From 15/01/2025, the videotolling system is available on this section and you can pay for the journey automatically without standing in a queue at the gates.
On the A2 section (Konin – Stryków) the open system applies (similarly to the A4 motorway).
This means that road tolls are collected on this A2 section after crossing a given gate, and not for the entire section.
Road tolls on the Autostrada Wielkopolska are collected at 3 toll points:
- PPO Nagradowice (behind the Poznań Wschód junction) – the gates stand directly on the motorway
- SPO Słupca (before entering the Słupca junction) – the gates stand on the access road to the motorway towards Poznań. There are no gates at the entrance to the A2 towards Warsaw – the fee is collected only when passing through PPO Lądek.
- PPO Lądek (before the Sugocin junction) – the gates stand directly on the motorway.
Good to know:
We remind you that failure to pay the fee for a paid section of national motorways is punishable by the imposition of an additional fee of up to €100 (approx. 500 PLN).
How much does it cost to drive the A2 in a camper?
Most campers available for hire are vehicles with a GVW of up to 3.5 tonnes, i.e. they belong to category 1.
Driving a camper on the tolled section of the A2 from Świecko to Konin costs about 120 PLN (as of 2025).
Toll collection points on the A2 motorway
On the private section of the A2 motorway, i.e. the Świecko–Konin section, there are 10 toll collection points, which are divided into:
Closed system (the fee is charged after travelling a given section):
- PPO Tarnawa
- SPO Torzym
- SPO Jordanowo
- SPO Trzciel
- SPO Nowy Tomyśl
- SPO Buk
- PPO Gołuski
Open system (the fee is charged after crossing the gate at a given point):
- PPO Nagradowice
- SPO Słupca
- PPO Lądek
Fees on the Świecko–Konin section can be paid traditionally, i.e. using payment cards, fuel cards or cash. On the Nagradowice–Lądek section you will also settle with the Autopay application. On the Konin – Stryków section you will settle only via the e-TOLL system.
Road Tolls Poland | A4 Kraków – Katowice
The A4 motorway (Małopolska Motorway) on the section from Katowice to Kraków is partially tolled.
The concession for this section will expire only in 2026, and the state GDDKiA will take over the care of this section.
The sections from the German border to Wrocław and from Kraków to the Ukrainian border are already toll-free.
The tolled section is a total of 60 km and there are two toll points on it:

The videotolling system operates on the A4 Katowice–Kraków section, which means that you can pay for journeys using Autopay.
It is currently the most expensive motorway in Poland. Road tolls on the A4 for vehicles below 3.5 t are currently about €5 (34 PLN)

Road Tolls Poland | Summary
And here we are at the finish line!
As you can see, Polish road tolls are not as scary as they seem – especially if you know where to click and how much to pay. In Poland most motorway sections are toll-free. However, if you set off on a tolled section it is worth using videotolling – a system like AmberGO, which lets you zip through without stopping at the gates. UK drivers familiar with Dart Charge or other barrier-free payments will find Autopay similarly convenient. Even the rates for most campers are the same as for passenger cars, so you don’t have to worry about additional costs.
That’s all – have a safe journey and see you in the next article!
