Slovenian VignettesControl of e-vignette use
The correct use of e-vignette in Slovenia is monitored by DARS (Slovenian Motorway Company), the Financial Administration, and the Police.
3 types of vignette checks are carried out in Slovenia using: fixed cameras on motorways, at control points, and by mobile toll control vehicles.
If the system confirms valid e-vignette use, the vehicle data is deleted immediately, with no records retained. If toll non-compliance is detected, the data is stored until the minor offence procedure is completed.
Slovenian VignettesFines for Missing Vignette
Driving without a valid vignette in Slovenia results in fines:
- Short-term vignette missing - €300 to €800
- Annual vignette missing - up to €1200
Driving on toll roads without a valid e-vignette is a legal offence and results in a €300 fine.
Transferring a number plate linked to an e-vignette to another vehicle, especially one in a different toll class, incurs a €500 fine.
If caught without a valid vignette, you'll be automatically issued one valid from the date of the offence, but only after the fine has been paid. The vignette issued will be the one (or multiple) that best matches the offence period, with priority given to the most cost-effective option for the driver.
An invoice might also be issued, along with an order banning the vehicle from toll roads until all charges are settled.
In Slovenia, you're obligated to pay the invoice by the due date indicated to lift the restriction.
