Hungary follows the Vienna Convention, meaning foreign-registered vehicles should be legal with home-country standards — but Hungarian police often issue fines anyway. Best to meet local expectations:

Motorcycles
Helmet is mandatory for rider and passenger. First-aid kit not required but protective gear is strongly recommended: gloves, jacket, trousers, boots.
Child Transport
Children under 150 cm must use a booster or child seat in the back. Children under 3 may ride in a rear-facing seat in the front only if the airbag is deactivated.

Missing equipment can result in a fine from 6,500 to 65,000 HUF (~€17 to €163). Must be paid on the spot. Police may seize your documents if unpaid.
