petrol stations and border crossings.

- buy motorway vignettes (cash or card),
- obtain information on complaints,
- get details on toll obligations, types, and prices of vignettes.
Road tolls in Slovakia | Vehicles < 3.5 tonnes
In Slovakia, an e-vignette is mandatory for all two-track vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tonnes, e.g., cars, SUVs, pick-ups, camper vans.
Once purchased, your vehicle is registered in the central system – no sticker or device is needed. Four vignette types are available:
- 1-day
- 10-day
- 30-day
- 365-day
Below you will find the 2025 vignette prices:
Validity period | Price |
---|---|
1-day | €8.10 |
10-day | €10.80 |
30-day | €17.10 |
365-day | €90.00 |
Good to know
You can now buy a Slovak vignette up to 60 days in advance (previously 13). The system also prevents duplicate purchase of a 365-day vignette.
Road tolls in Slovakia | Vehicles ≥ 3.5 tonnes
In Slovakia, all vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes must pay tolls on tolled roads. Charges depend on:
- vehicle category,
- emission class,
- number of axles,
- distance travelled.
Tolls are collected electronically through the Myto system. Payment options include cash, bank transfer, debit/credit card, or fuel card.
Payment methods
You can choose one of two settlement methods:
- Pre-paid – top up your account in advance,
- Post-paid – payments are deducted automatically after each trip.
The Slovak toll system uses technologies such as GPS, GSM-GPRS, and DSRC.
Where to buy an OBU unit?
On-board units (OBU 1374, Sitraffic Sensus Unit, Billien OBU, Billien OBU 5051) are required and assigned permanently to the vehicle.
You can obtain an OBU from customer service points or via courier.
Devices must be returned within 14 days after contract termination; otherwise, a penalty applies.
Where to mount the OBU?
The OBU must be mounted on the inside of the windscreen, lower centre, not obstructing the driver’s view. Preferably, connect it to the cigarette lighter socket. Secure loose cables with adhesive tape if necessary.
How much is the toll per kilometre in Slovakia?
The rate depends on vehicle weight, category, emission class, and number of axles.
Example: in 2025, a lorry over 3.5 t (EURO II) travelling 400 km from Bratislava to Košice costs about €37 (€45.60 gross). You can calculate your cost using the official Slovak toll calculator.
European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) in Slovakia
EETS allows you to pay tolls in multiple EU countries using one device
(OBE) and one contract.
Example: travelling from Slovakia to Germany usually requires three devices (Slovak, Austrian, German).
With EETS, only one is needed.
Registration is optional – you may continue to use the Slovak national system.
OBU vs OBE
- OBU – national on-board unit (Slovakia only),
- OBE – international device supporting EETS.
Accredited EETS providers include:
- EUROWAG – WAG Payment Solutions a.s.
- ITIS Holding a.s.
- Telepass SpA
- Toll4Europe GmbH
