Road tolls in Slovenia | Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes

All vehicles with a maximum permissible weight over 3.5 tonnes (R2, R3, R4) are subject to the DarsGO system. Tolls are charged automatically via an on-board unit (OBU), which registers kilometres travelled.

How to pay Slovenian e-toll (DarsGO)?

You can choose between two settlement methods:

  • Prepaid – top up your OBU before travel,
  • Postpaid – automatic invoicing (for companies with contract).

Payments can be made via:

  • Fuel cards (UTA, DKV, Shell, Eurowag, etc.),
  • Credit/debit cards,
  • Cash (at DarsGO service points).

Where to buy an OBU device?

You can purchase and register a DarsGO OBU at any DARS Service point in Slovenia. Required documents include:

  • Company VAT number,
  • Email address,
  • Vehicle registration documents + EURO emission certificate.

Alternatively, you can register online (e-DarsGO) and collect the unit in person or receive it by post (EU residents).

How much is the toll per kilometre in Slovenia?

The price per kilometre depends on:

  • distance travelled,
  • vehicle category (number of axles),
  • EURO emission class.

For example, in 2025, a lorry over 3.5 tonnes, 2 axles, EURO 4, travelling 125 km from Maribor to Ljubljana pays about €25. Rates range from about €0.16/km (EURO 6) to €0.25/km (EURO 0).

You can calculate your cost using the official Dars toll calculator.
