Vignette validity How are the 10 days calculated?

The 10-day Austrian vignette is valid from the date specified in the order, plus 9 subsequent calendar days (a total of 10 days), until 23:59 on the last day.

Blue pointer Example 1

A vignette purchased on 22/08 with validity starting on 24/08 is valid from 00:00 on 24/08 until 23:59 on 02/09.

Blue pointer Example 2

A vignette purchased and activated at 14:00 on 24/08 with validity starting on 24/08 is valid from 14:00 on 24/08 until 23:59 on 02/09.


*If the vignette is purchased “from today”, its validity begins at the moment of purchase in the Austrian system and then covers the following 9 days, until 23:59 on the last day. In practice, this may mean less than a full 10 days.

Important Vignette limitations

  • The vignette does not authorize entry into special zones in Vienna.
  • The vignette does not cover selected tunnels and special road sections (a separate toll is required).

The vignette is provided as an electronic PDF confirmation and is assigned to the vehicle’s registration number. There is no need to place a sticker on the windshield or carry a paper confirmation.
